Sayantani Dasgupta

I was born on 25th December, 1986 in Kolkata, India. My parents, Dr. Pradipta Kumar Dasgupta and Dr. Mahua Dasgupta are ardent lovers of music.

I did my initial training in vocal music started at the age of seven in a local music school. Eventually became a regular student of “SHRUTINANDAN”, a well-known school of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and pursued my music training under his guidance. There, my classes started under all respected teachers, including Kaushiki Chakrabarty, an internationally acclaimed Indian classical vocalist.

In the year 2010, I became a scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, a prestigious organization established with the motive of preserving and promoting Hindustani classical music, under “Guru Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty”. This greatly inspired her towards learning and developing "Khayal" singing and also other lighter forms of Indian vocal music.

I also secured 2nd position in All India Radio Music Competition in “Bhajan” in 2010 and  became a regular artist of the All India Radio. I was awarded a certificate in “Bhajan” in the “Dover Lane Music Competition” in 2009. Also being a student of “SHRUTINANDAN” I participated in quite a few television shows conducted by the school.
