Sahana Bhattacharyya

Sahana Bhattacharyya is a Doctoral Candidate in Physics and a passionate musician. She started learning Indian classical music from her mother Sarbani Bhattacharyya and still continuing her training in under the tutelage of Guru Pandit Sougata Banerjee. She got her training in Tagore songs for twenty-three from Ruby Bhattacharyya. She also took online semiclassical music classes from Anjan Majumdar for three years.

She started performing in All India Radio and Door Darshan Kendra Kolkata as a child artist at the age of six. Her biggest achievement was to receive Manna De Sangeet Academy Award from the Manna De himself in 2010. She has performed in various TV channels like Zee Bangla, ETV Bangla, Akash Bangla, Tara Muzic, (solo and Reality shows), and well-known stages like Gyan Mancha, Mahajati Sadan, Nazrul Mancha etc. in India.

After coming to the USA for her PhD in Physics, she has performed solo in several festivals like Indian Independence Day and Republic Day organized by the Indian Consulate in New York, International Mother Language Day organized by the Bangladesh Consulate in New York (she represented her country India), NABC Banga Sammelan, the Inauguration ceremony of Kazi Nazrul Foundation Princeton by Anindita Kazi, East Coast Durgapuja Association New York  (Durgapuja), BAP Pitsburg (Durgapuja),  Purbachal Maryland Saraswati Puja, Long Island Kalibari Durgapuja, Franklin Square Garden Durgotsav, Mahamaya Temple New York Diwali, Dhaka Club New York Eid Celebration (New York), Jackson Heights New York Eid, etc. She also performed in various TV channels in the USA like TV Asia, Time TV, NRB Connect, DTV, Deshe Bideshe TV, California TV, etc. During the lockdown, she was invited to perform worldwide for Digital Concerts organized by Musician's Digistage (by Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee), Raag-Rang (by Bidushi Mitali Bhowmick), Indian Express News Channel, Star-a-Live concerts (London), Garden State Cultural Association  (NJ), EssexIndians (UK), Yorkshire Bengali Association (UK), Ichchhe (Germany), Bengali Association of Roosevelt Island (NY), Tunes, a Musical Journey (Australia), Boyaam (India) etc. She also performed as a part of Rythm Spec, Adda NJ, Niloy Jana Production, and Art Lab Media Production on various events.

She has recorded a few songs so far with renowned music producers like Pandit Sandip Chatterjee, Ananjan Chakraborty, Sayan Ganguly, Indrajit Dey Indro, Souvik Deb etc. Her recentmost achievements were directing a full performance "Srijane Srijit" at NABC Banga Sammelan and  performing and collaborating with Jaltarang (UK) as US outreach connector where Indian Consulate (New York), Nehru Center London, Gandhi Centre Netherlands and ICCR Kolkata were the heavyweight supporters (both in July 2021).
